Have you ever notice the flickering glow shining from your neighbor’s windows when they are watching TV? Burglars notice this too, so they know to move on to another target. FakeTV simulates the light output of a television, making it look like someone is home watching TV. The light effects of real television programming — scene changes, fades, flicks, swells, and more — are all faithfully simulated by FakeTV. Much like our FTV-10 and FTV-11, the FakeTV model FTV-7 makes light like a television does. The FTV-7 simulates the light output of a 27″ HDTV, just like our FTV-10, but it is a little smaller in size and made for our budget conscience customers. In addition, the FTV-7 has one timer setting: Dusk +5 hours.

Simulates the light output of a 27″ HDTVBuilt-In light sensor and timerUses the same amount of power as a nightlight7 Super bright LED’s with polished whit reflectorComes with instructions and US style AC adaptor

FakeTV’s built-in computer controls 7 super-bright LEDs that fill a room with light. It accurately simulates scene changes, fades, and on-screen motion, in thousand of possible shades of color, just like real television. A built-in light sensor turns FakeTV on at dusk and turns it off after 5 hours The dynamic light from FakeTV conveys the impression of “alive” in a way that a light on a timer cannot. Consumes just the power of a night light. AC adapter included.

Simple Security Solution

Burglars do not like occupied houses; why risk getting caught. When they see that flickering glow, they know someone is inside watching TV. FakeTV is a simple DIY security device that gives the impression that someone is home and they are watching television right now. Burglars will not be able to distinguish FakeTV from a real TV.

There is nothing to install– no drilling or wiring needed. It works great in conjunction with a whole home security system. Whole home security systems are great, we use them ourselves, but they don’t prevent the smash and grab type break-ins where the burglar is in and out before the police are even notified. FakeTV helps prevent this by alerting the the burglar that someone is inside.

Hydreon Corporation

Experts in optics and high volume manufacturing, Hydreon Corporation teamed up with author and inventor Blaine Readler to further develop his invention for a television simulator. Hydreon studied the flickering glow in detail, gathering much data with sophisticated instruments about the intensity and color variations emanating from a real television. Engineers wrote computer programs to simulate the effects produced by TV programming. The FakeTV is the fruit of this hard work and ingenuity.

Title: Works great!
Review: This works very well for my application. I have a thin white sheet hanging in my picture south facing window to help scatter sunlight for my plants. It looks like the tv is on from the outside. My only peeve is that the light sensor only works when it’s put in the 5 hour mode. When it’s set to on it’s on all the time whether it’s day or night. But for $20 I can’t really complain.

Title: Fantastic device! Really looks like someone is watching TV from outside
Review: Wonderful idea and well executed. I bought one of these when I was going to be away from home for an extended period. Aim it near a window with shades or blinds and it looks exactly like someone is watching TV. The unit is tiny but packs a punch. Good variety and randomny of colors, brightness, and duration. I ended up buying another one for an family member. Added a smart plug alto control remotely and on a random schedule. Love it!

Title: Good home security “watchdog”… pun intended
Review: Bought this fake TV to keep potential thieves unsure whether someone in the bedroom just feet from our driveway may be up. Sounds crazy I know, but a neighbor down the street had her catalytic converter stolen from her car parked IN HER DRIVEWAY!!!So how does this work as a deterrent? In the darkness, when the TV emulator is on, it casts random colored light to simulate video which plays from a TV. The unit is small and it doesn’t seem to cast much light, but in the darkness, pointed toward a shuttered window…. Well, if I were a criminal and I see activity indications in a bedroom, I’m surely not going to pick that driveway! So the emulator has a setting where you can have it turn turn on at dusk and turn off 5 hours later, but that setting (while a nice gesture in design) isn’t of much use in my opinion since that means it would turn off around midnight. I want it on in the wee hours of the morning as well because that’s when the bad guys are most likely to try to steal your converter. If I turn it on before I go to bed and just leave it on till the morning, it probably would use a couple Pennie’s of electricity with its tiny LED lights but it is sort of mentioned that if you wish to schedule it to your liking, you can leave it in and control it with a “timer”. I’m assuming they’re talking about a timed electrical outlet. Yes, I could do that, but that’s so old school. I happened to have a spare smart plug laying around so I just set the plug to turn on and off at a certain time daily.Because of the need to add this plug to get customized scheduling, I docked it a star, but still what do you expect for $20 bucks! I knew going in that I’d need to use a smart plug to get it to do what I wanted, but I had one already that wasn’t being used, so paying the $20 bucks was a win-win. And if the dusk +5 hour function works for you, it’s definitely a 5 star purchase as a crime deterrent!

Title: Home security device
Review: Like Home Alone, a good way to keep your home safe is to make it look occupied. This device is very effective at this. It’s easy to set up and start with automatic modes or off a timer. Reasonable price and quick delivery.

Title: I recommend this when you’re away but also when you’re home.
Review: Just a few things to know about this. First, it does work. I do wish it would cycle lights at a faster rate. It simulates TV lights more like a rom-com than an action film. Also, it’s best for a dark room, so turn out the lights where you use this. It’s just bright enough, but I wish it were brighter. That said, I still give it 5 stars and two thumbs up.

Title: Not bad
Review: I got two models from this brand, and this one is the less bright one. Works as advertised but the light output could be stronger.

Review: Aimed the light directly at a curtain and it was obviously not a TV. Aimed it at a wall or ceiling in the room and it was too faint to see outside.Moved to a room on an upper floor and pointed at the curtain and the effect wasn’t bad since from the street you can’t see in the window. So I wouldn’t recommend this on the main floor but on an upper floor it’s alright.
